
Cornmeal Cheese Buns
Golden and fluffy buns made with cornmeal and filled with cheese, perfect for breakfast or as a savory snack.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup grated cheese cheddar or mozzarella
- 1/4 cup butter softened
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Sesame seeds for topping optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the butter, milk, and egg to the dry ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together.
- Stir in the grated cheese, making sure it is evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and shape them into round buns.
- Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
