Cornmeal Cheese Buns

- 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup grated cheese cheddar or mozzarella
- 1/4 cup butter softened
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Sesame seeds for topping optional
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
Add the butter, milk, and egg to the dry ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together.
Stir in the grated cheese, making sure it is evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and shape them into round buns.
Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
