Naan (Oven-Baked Indian Bread)

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or ghee
  • Optional: chopped cilantro or minced garlic for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a bowl. Add yogurt and warm water, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour.
  • Divide the dough into small balls and roll each into an oval or round shape.
  • Heat a skillet or tawa over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for 1-2 minutes on one side until bubbles form. Flip and cook the other side until golden spots appear.
  • Brush with melted butter or ghee and sprinkle with cilantro or garlic if desired. Serve hot.
