Crêpes Suzette (Crêpes in Orange Sauce)
A classic French dessert, Crêpes Suzette features thin crêpes coated in a buttery orange sauce with a hint of liqueur, creating a delightful combination of flavors.
Ingredients
For the Crêpes:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
For the Orange Sauce:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup orange juice freshly squeezed
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 2 tbsp Grand Marnier or orange liqueur optional
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk flour, eggs, milk, melted butter, sugar, and salt until smooth. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and pour a small amount of batter, tilting the pan to spread it thinly. Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden. Repeat with remaining batter.
- In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in sugar, orange juice, and zest, cooking until the sugar dissolves. Add Grand Marnier (if using) and cook for another minute.
- Fold each crêpe into quarters and place them in the orange sauce. Heat gently, spooning the sauce over the crêpes to coat them.
- Serve immediately, warm, and enjoy.
