
Lo Mein (Vegetable or Meat Noodles)
A flavorful Chinese noodle dish, Lo Mein combines stir-fried noodles with a mix of colorful vegetables and optionally tender slices of meat.
Ingredients
- 200 g lo mein noodles or egg noodles
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 cup mixed vegetables e.g., carrots, bell peppers, broccoli
- 200 g chicken beef, or shrimp (optional, sliced or peeled)
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 2 green onions sliced
Instructions
- Cook lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the protein (if using) and cook until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, stir-fry the vegetables for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Return the noodles and protein to the skillet. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and sugar. Toss well to coat evenly.
- Stir in sliced green onions and cook for an additional minute. Serve hot.
