Lo Mein (Vegetable or Meat Noodles)

A flavorful Chinese noodle dish, Lo Mein combines stir-fried noodles with a mix of colorful vegetables and optionally tender slices of meat.

Ingredients
  

  • 200 g lo mein noodles or egg noodles
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables e.g., carrots, bell peppers, broccoli
  • 200 g chicken beef, or shrimp (optional, sliced or peeled)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 2 green onions sliced

Instructions
 

  • Cook lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.
  • Add the protein (if using) and cook until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, stir-fry the vegetables for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.
  • Return the noodles and protein to the skillet. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and sugar. Toss well to coat evenly.
  • Stir in sliced green onions and cook for an additional minute. Serve hot.
