
Hot and Sour Soup
A classic Chinese dish, Hot and Sour Soup features a tangy and spicy broth filled with tofu, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots, creating a hearty and flavorful appetizer.
Ingredients
- 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp chili paste or hot sauce adjust to taste
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
- 1 cup shiitake mushrooms sliced
- 1/2 cup bamboo shoots sliced
- 200 g tofu cubed
- 2 eggs beaten
- 2 green onions sliced
Instructions
- In a pot, bring the broth to a boil. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, and sesame oil.
- Add mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and tofu to the pot. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Gradually stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the soup thickens slightly.
- Slowly pour in the beaten eggs while stirring the soup to create ribbons.
- Remove from heat, garnish with green onions, and serve hot.
