Turkish Simit
Traditional Turkish simit, with its crispy crust and sesame-covered goodness, is a must-try treat.

For the Dough
- 500 grams all-purpose flour
- 1 packet dry yeast 7 grams
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
For the Coating
- 1/2 cup grape molasses
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup sesame seeds
Sift the flour into a large bowl. Make a well in the center and add the dry yeast, sugar, and warm water. Mix to dissolve the yeast.
Add the vegetable oil and salt, kneading the dough until soft and non-sticky. Cover and let it rise for 30 minutes.
Divide the dough into 6 equal parts. Roll each piece into long ropes, twist two ropes together, and join the ends to form a ring.
Mix molasses and water in a bowl. Place sesame seeds on a plate.
Dip each ring first into the molasses mixture, then coat with sesame seeds.
Place on a parchment-lined baking tray and let rise for another 15 minutes.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 20 minutes until golden brown.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
