Hummus (Chickpea and Tahini Dip)

A creamy and savory dip made from chickpeas and tahini, perfect for serving with pita bread or vegetables.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 can chickpeas drained and rinsed (or 1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas)
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Water as needed for desired consistency
  • Paprika and fresh parsley for garnish optional

Instructions
 

  • In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  • Blend until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  • Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and drizzle with olive oil.
  • Garnish with paprika and fresh parsley if desired.
  • Serve with pita bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
