Gulab Jamun (Milk-Based Sweet Soaked in Syrup)

For the Dough:
- 1 cup milk powder
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp ghee or butter softened
- 2-3 tbsp milk as needed for dough
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
For the Syrup:
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1-2 saffron strands optional
- 1 tsp rose water
Mix milk powder, flour, ghee, and baking soda in a bowl. Gradually add milk to form a soft dough. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
In a pot, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes. Add cardamom powder, saffron, and rose water. Keep the syrup warm.
Divide the dough into small balls, ensuring no cracks. Heat oil or ghee in a deep pan over low-medium heat. Fry the balls until golden brown, turning frequently.
Soak the fried balls in the warm syrup for at least 2 hours before serving.
