- 1 kg potatoes thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese grated
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter for greasing
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg optional
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish with butter.
Layer the sliced potatoes evenly in the dish, overlapping slightly. Season each layer with salt, pepper, and a sprinkle of nutmeg (if using).
In a saucepan, heat the cream and minced garlic until warm but not boiling. Pour the cream mixture over the potatoes.
Sprinkle Gruyère cheese evenly on top.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling.
Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
