Muhammara (Spicy Pepper and Walnut Dip)

Ingredients
  

  • 2 red bell peppers roasted and peeled
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp pomegranate molasses optional
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper optional
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  • Roast the red peppers until the skin is charred, about 20 minutes. Once roasted, peel off the skin and remove the seeds.
  • In a food processor, combine the roasted peppers, walnuts, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, pomegranate molasses (if using), cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper.
  • Process until smooth or slightly chunky, depending on your preference.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  • Serve the muhammara as a dip with pita bread or fresh vegetables.
