
Muhammara (Spicy Pepper and Walnut Dip)
A flavorful and smoky dip made from roasted red peppers, walnuts, and spices, perfect for serving with pita bread or vegetables.
Ingredients
- 2 red bell peppers roasted and peeled
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp pomegranate molasses optional
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper optional
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Roast the red peppers until the skin is charred, about 20 minutes. Once roasted, peel off the skin and remove the seeds.
- In a food processor, combine the roasted peppers, walnuts, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, pomegranate molasses (if using), cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper.
- Process until smooth or slightly chunky, depending on your preference.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve the muhammara as a dip with pita bread or fresh vegetables.
