
Fava (Olive Oil Fava Bean Dip)
A creamy and savory dip made from fava beans, olive oil, and spices, perfect for serving with pita bread or vegetables.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked fava beans or canned
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until softened.
- Add the cooked fava beans, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and cook for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Transfer the mixture to a food processor and blend until smooth. If the dip is too thick, add a little more olive oil to achieve the desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve the fava in a bowl, garnished with fresh parsley and a drizzle of olive oil.
