Ingredients
  

  • 500 g squid rings cleaned
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal optional for extra crispiness
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk or milk with 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • Oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges and parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Place the squid rings in a bowl and soak them in buttermilk for 10 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal (if using), paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet to 180°C (350°F).
  • Remove the squid rings from the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off, and coat them in the flour mixture.
  • Fry the squid rings in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot with lemon wedges and garnish with parsley.
