
Chocolate Fudge Cake
A rich and moist chocolate cake with a decadent fudge frosting, perfect for an indulgent treat.
Ingredients
For the Cake
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup boiling water
For the Fudge Frosting
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a small 6-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, vegetable oil, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until smooth.
- Stir in the boiling water until fully combined (the batter will be thin).
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.
- To make the frosting, heat the chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the frosting to cool slightly until it thickens.
- Spread the fudge frosting over the cooled cake. Slice and serve.
