Tandır Böreği (Crispy Pastry with Meat Filling)

Tandır Böreği is a traditional Turkish pastry featuring layers of crispy dough filled with seasoned minced meat and onions, baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g phyllo or yufka dough
  • 300 g minced meat
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup melted butter for brushing layers
  • 1 egg yolk for glazing

Instructions
 

  • Sauté minced meat and onion in olive oil until fully cooked. Season with salt and black pepper, then let it cool.
  • Grease a baking dish and layer phyllo dough, brushing each layer with melted butter. After 3-4 layers, spread the meat filling evenly.
  • Repeat layering with dough and butter until all ingredients are used. Brush the top layer with egg yolk for a golden finish.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 35-40 minutes, or until the börek is golden and crispy.
  • Let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
