
Palak Paneer (Spinach and Paneer Curry)
A rich and nutritious North Indian dish, Palak Paneer combines paneer cubes with a creamy spinach-based curry.
Ingredients
- 200 g paneer cubed
- 4 cups fresh spinach leaves washed and chopped
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 tsp ginger grated
- 1 green chili optional, chopped
- 1/2 cup tomato puree
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 cup heavy cream or yogurt
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
Blanch the spinach:
- Cook spinach leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Drain and blend into a smooth puree.
Prepare the curry base:
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions until golden. Add garlic, ginger, and green chili, cooking until fragrant. Stir in tomato puree, turmeric, cumin, and garam masala. Cook for 5 minutes.
Combine spinach and paneer:
- Add the spinach puree to the pan and mix well. Stir in cream or yogurt and cook for 5 minutes. Gently add paneer cubes and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with naan or rice.
