Ingredients
  

For the Chicken:

  • 500 g chicken breast or thigh cubed
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 4-6 dried chili peppers

For Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onions

Instructions
 

  • Coat chicken pieces in beaten egg, then dredge in cornstarch. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan and fry the chicken in batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch mixture to prepare the sauce.
  • In a large skillet or wok, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Add garlic, ginger, and dried chili peppers, stir-frying until fragrant.
  • Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and bring it to a simmer. Add the fried chicken pieces and toss to coat them evenly in the sauce.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot with steamed rice.
