Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water optional, for thickening

For Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions sliced

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to prepare the teriyaki sauce.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the salmon fillets skin-side down and cook for 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes until cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, pour the teriyaki sauce mixture and bring it to a simmer. If you prefer a thicker sauce, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes until thickened.
  • Return the salmon to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the fillets. Cook for 1-2 minutes to coat the salmon in the sauce.
  • Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions. Pair with steamed rice and vegetables for a complete meal.
