
Meatballs in Tomato Sauce
Juicy and flavorful meatballs simmered in a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients
For the Meatballs
- 500 g ground beef medium-fat
- 1 onion grated
- 1 garlic clove grated
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon parsley finely chopped
For the Tomato Sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 cups grated tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and black pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix all meatball ingredients and form into walnut-sized balls.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly brown the meatballs for 3-4 minutes on each side.
- In a separate pot, heat olive oil and sauté the garlic for 1 minute.
- Add the grated tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Place the meatballs into the tomato sauce and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes.
- Serve hot.
