Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs

  • 500 g ground beef medium-fat
  • 1 onion grated
  • 1 garlic clove grated
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon parsley finely chopped

For the Tomato Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 cups grated tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and black pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, mix all meatball ingredients and form into walnut-sized balls.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly brown the meatballs for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • In a separate pot, heat olive oil and sauté the garlic for 1 minute.
  • Add the grated tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Place the meatballs into the tomato sauce and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes.
  • Serve hot.
